SNAPSHOTS! Inclusion and Access: Creating & Cultivating Community Through Photography

Click here to view event flyer!

We would like to extend an invitation to students, faculty, and staff to join us in a campus-wide photography exhibition. This exhibition will take place both in-person, within the AIMM building student galleries, and online, during the early spring. The Department of Art and Art History believes that photography is a powerful medium for promoting and celebrating diversity, inclusion, and accessibility. By inviting members of our campus community to share their interpretations of these themes through their photographs, we hope to foster a greater sense of unity, understanding, and awareness. Please share the attached poster with your colleagues, students, and staff with whom you work closely.

Here are some details about the exhibition:
  • Event Highlights: During the exhibition, we plan to host a diverse program that includes activities like meditation and yoga sessions, as well as workshops led by our students, faculty, and staff.
  • Curriculum Integration: If you are interested in aligning your spring curriculum with the exhibition, we encourage you to get in touch before December 8, 2023. We believe this exhibition can be a valuable learning opportunity for your students.
  • Student Collaboration: We are excited to share that this project has been a collaborative effort between our dedicated students. The team comprises majors in Art Education, Fine Art, and Photography and Video, with two of them also pursuing minors in Arts Administration and Cultural Entrepreneurship. Their diverse backgrounds and expertise have played a pivotal role in shaping this exhibition.

Submission Deadline: We kindly request that all submissions be sent to us by December 1, 2023. This will allow us time to curate the exhibition and prepare for both the in-person and online components scheduled for early spring, 2024.
Submission Guidelines:  We invite all members of our campus community, including students, staff, and faculty, to submit their photographs that reflect their interpretation of “inclusion and accessibility.” –

  • Each participant may submit up to three photographs.
  • Submissions must be original work that does not infringe on any copyright or intellectual property rights.
  • Photographs can be in color or black and white and should be saved in high-quality jpg or png format.
  • Along with each photograph, please provide a brief description or caption that explains how your image relates to the themes of inclusion and accessibility.
